Medical Physicist Services

Graham Nuclear provides Nuclear Medicine gamma camera and PET scanner Medical Physicist services including ACR™ Accreditations, Performance Tests / Quality Assurance Tests and Acceptance Tests. I've made my living exclusively in nuclear medicine scintillation camera quality assurance for over 15 years. Nuclear medicine imaging systems are also known as Anger cameras, scintillation cameras or gamma cameras. I started working with on systems such as the Searle Pho Gamma IV and Technicare/Ohio Nuclear S438. I currently work with state-of-the-art SPECT / CT systems such as the Siemens Symbia, GE Infinia Hawkeye, and Philips Precedence. I do not repair these systems; A nuclear medicine medical physicist provides an unbiased report of your imaging system and quality assurance. I have completed performance tests on gamma cameras at over 100 different facilities from Florida to Alaska so many factory engineers know me and respect my judgment.

The role of a physicist is to evaluate the performance of your nuclear medicine equipment and quality assurance schedule and provide a written report. A physicist does not perform any repairs. The best facilities will have an independent physicist without any ties or special arrangements with manufacturers or service engineers. Using the same company that is responsible for performance tests and repairs is not recommended. If you hire a service engineer when you need a physicist, you'll pay a service engineer and a physicist. Recommendations to your service engineer are made based on the test images acquired by the physicist. I often find problems that technologists are not aware of because their Q.C. checks only cover the very basics of camera operation. Service engineers perform preventative maintance and fix problems reported by physicists and technologists. Annual performance tests may soon be required on all gamma cameras whether your facility is inpatient, outpatient, ACR™ or IAC accreditated.

I'm able to work during the hours of the day it's convenient to your facility. It's often easier to start working in the afternoon after your patient studies have been completed for the day. Closing your department down for days for physicist services is not required. I'm available seven days a week if needed.
